After-Hours Havoc: 10 Pune Hotspots Receive Excise Department’s Warning

Pune, Maharashtra: In response to the surge in criminal activities, particularly drug-related issues among the youth in Pune, the Maharashtra State Excise Department has taken action against 10 popular restaurants and pubs in the city. Notices were issued from December 1 to December 10, addressing various violations such as operating beyond permissible hours, allowing alcohol consumption outside premises, playing loud music illegally, and neglecting liquor license regulations.

Yuvraj Shinde, Deputy Superintendent of the State Excise Department in Pune, emphasized the need for cracking down on establishments flouting rules. He stated, “This action was taken against 10 restaurants and pubs in Pune for various reasons, including operating beyond the permissible time, allowing alcohol consumption just outside restaurant premises, illegally playing loud music, neglecting to keep track of liquor licenses, selling alcohol without authorization, and more.”

Areas like Koregaon Park, Mundhwa, Bund Garden, Baner, Hinjewadi, Balewadi, and others, known for their vibrant nightlife, have witnessed a proliferation of restaurants and pubs. To attract the youth, these establishments often offer discounts but tend to neglect compliance with regulations.

  4. Lemongrass Restaurant
  5. Hotel Kaka’s
  6. Unicorn House
  7. Narang Venture
  8. Hotel Metro
  9. Baller
  10. Local Gastro Bar
