Abandoned Newborn Rescued by Pune Police in Heartfelt Operation

Hadapsar, November 1, 2023: On the evening of October 31, at around 5:30 PM, officers from Hadapsar Police Station, including Damini Marshal and Tukai Marshal, responded to a distress call in Sasane Nagar. Upon reaching Lane Number 13, Damini Marshal made a heartwarming discovery – a four-day-old newborn girl, abandoned by an unknown individual.

Under the compassionate leadership of Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Shelke, a team of dedicated officers, including Women Police Officers Vaishali Udmale, Rajshree Jadhav, Manjusha Dengle, Usha Sonkamble, and Tukai Darshan Marshal Pawar, along with the support of Bajrang Dhaygude, quickly located the crying infant. The baby had cat’s nail scratch marks on her tiny face. Without hesitation, the police team rushed the newborn to Dr. Sachin Sanap, a pediatrician in Sasane Nagar, for immediate first aid. Simultaneously, local social workers and the child welfare committee were alerted.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the newborn was swiftly transferred to a hospital for thorough medical care and placed under the loving guardianship of Balkalyan Committee No. 1 in Yerwada. Bharatiya Samajseva Kendra Koregaon Park was entrusted with the custody and care of the infant.

In the name of the government, Police Constable Pawar officially filed a complaint against the unknown individual responsible for the heart-wrenching abandonment of the child. A case has been registered under Section 317 of the Indian Penal Code, and a comprehensive investigation is currently underway.
