Aarogyam: Transforming Healthcare Access with India’s First Mobile Clinic on Wheels

In a significant stride towards making healthcare more accessible, ‘Aarogyam’ – India’s first High-Tech Mobile Clinic on Wheels, was inaugurated at the ‘Apla-Ghar’ NGO in Golewada, Donje, Pune. This well-equipped clinic van, a project by the Late Vaibhav Phalnikar Memorial Foundation, has received support from T-Systems and is set to commence its services from November 1, 2023. Its outreach is expected to extend up to 25 km from the ‘Apla Ghar’ NGO.

The unveiling of ‘Aarogyam’ saw the presence of celebrated actress Jaya Prada, renowned theater and film artist Bharat Jadhav, and prominent industrialist Chandrashekhar D. Sheth. The event was also graced by other dignitaries, including Director/Producer Mahesh Tilekar, Managing Director and SVP Anant Padmanabhan, CHRO and Vice President Milind Kaulgud, CFO Vinit Patil, and Director Prasad Sardeshpande of T-Systems. Founders of ‘Apla Ghar,’ Vijay and Sadhana Phalnikar, were also in attendance, among others.

The services offered by ‘Aarogyam’ – India’s first High-Tech Mobile Clinic on Wheels include dental checkups and treatment, eye checkups and treatment, Breast Cancer Screening, Oral Cancer Screening, a General check-up compartment, Blood Sample collection, Dental X-Ray, Chemical Toilet, Wi-Fi connectivity, and CCTV cameras.

Bharat Jadhav expressed his admiration for the Phalnikar couple, comparing them to ‘Vitthal’ and ‘Rukmini’ for their dedication to society. He emphasized the positive environment at ‘Apla Ghar’ and the swift recovery of patients due to the doctors’ warmth. Jadhav pledged to provide 10 theater play tickets to the children of ‘Apla Ghar’ for every performance he does.

Jaya Prada acknowledged the challenges women face in openly discussing issues like Breast Cancer and praised the steps taken towards launching India’s first High-Tech Mobile Clinic on Wheels. She expressed her unwavering support for the cause.

Chandrashekhar D. Sheth shared his commitment to social causes and admired the qualities of Vijay Phalnikar. He echoed Bharat Jadhav’s sentiments, considering the Phalnikar couple as embodiments of ‘Vitthal’ and ‘Rukmini.’

Vijay Phalnikar introduced the program, while Rajesh Mandik hosted and presented the Vote of Thanks.
