20 Years of Impact: COEP Spandan’s ‘Abhishta’ Festival Concludes on a High Note

Pune, Maharashtra, October 8, 2023 – COEP Spandan, the esteemed social work club of the College of Engineering Pune (COEP) University of Technology, is jubilantly celebrating its remarkable 20th anniversary with a spirited six-day festival known as “Abhishta.” Commencing on October 3rd, this gala event has garnered significant attention and participation.

The inauguration of the festival took place on October 3rd at 4 pm within the COEP Auditorium, where notable personalities Amrit Deshmukh, affectionately recognized as the “Booklet Guy,” and Avinash Chate, lent their presence as esteemed chief guests. Their participation added a touch of grandeur to the event.

The festival, “Abhishta,” has served as a bustling center for a plethora of socially impactful initiatives. Among these, “Rethink Plastic” sought to raise awareness about the environmental perils of plastic, “Street Smart” aimed at promoting traffic safety, and “Empower Her” focused on empowering university girls, fostering personal and academic growth. Additional events included “Eco Spark,” which spotlighted energy conservation, “Harbor Of Hope” to acknowledge unsung heroes in the field of social work, “Green Thumb Gathering,” an innovative tree plantation endeavor, and “Youth Ignite,” which offered invaluable social and technical guidance to the youth. The “Youth Ignite” program had the privilege of hosting Sharad Tandale as its chief guest.

A commendable highlight of the festival was the Blood Donation Camp conducted on October 6th, held in the Main Building of COEP from 10 am to 4 pm. This altruistic act significantly contributed to the well-being of the community and underscored the club’s commitment to social responsibility.

The “Abhishta” festival reaches its conclusion today with a heartfelt farewell ceremony. The event is expected to witness the presence of esteemed ex-members of COEP Spandan, along with a distinguished lineup of dignitaries, including Dr. Anil Sahastrabuddhe, Dr. Ganesh Natarajan, Shravan Hardikar (IAS), and the Vice Chancellor of COEP University, Dr. Agashe. This momentous occasion has been thoughtfully organized by COEP Spandan members Chintaman Sanap and Reshma Hajite.

During today’s ceremony, the prestigious awards for “Shakuntala Patade Best Woman Entrepreneur” and “Best Social Venture” will be presented, recognizing outstanding contributions in these domains. Additionally, insights into Spandan’s future initiatives will be shared, offering a glimpse into the club’s continued dedication to effecting positive change in society.
