Pune, Maharashtra: In a significant development for Pune’s infrastructure, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has been granted a budget of ₹10,519 crore for land acquisition related to the Pune outer ring road. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar presented the interim budget on Tuesday, confirming the allocation for the ongoing project.
MSRDC officials have expressed their satisfaction with the allotted amount, highlighting that it aligns with their budgetary demands presented in the state budget. The officials are optimistic about completing the land acquisition process by June, as established during a recent review meeting involving MSRDC officials, Pune divisional commissioner, and land acquisition officials.
The land acquisition for the outer ring road is progressing in two phases – western and eastern. While nearly 90% of the land required for the western phase has been acquired, the commencement of land acquisition for the eastern phase is on the horizon. Alongside the Pune outer ring road, the interim budget also allocates an outlay of ₹22,225 crore for land acquisition for the Virar-Alibag multimodal corridor, another significant project executed by MSRDC.
The proposed 136.80 km-long outer ring road aims to alleviate traffic congestion in Pune by diverting vehicles passing through the city. With this substantial budget allocation, MSRDC is poised to accelerate the development, bringing relief to commuters and enhancing the city’s overall infrastructure.
