Pune: The Pune Anti-Corruption Department caught a revenue assistant officer in the Daund Tehsil office by openly receiving a bribe of Rs ten thousand rupees. The officer has been apprehended for receiving the bribe he demanded to grant an extension of the house seizure order of the plaintiff. Pune ACB took this action on Wednesday, January 31.
The accused revenue officer is identified as Madhav Rajaram Reshewad, 54, and he works in the Daund Tehsil office as a revenue assistant. In this case, a 44-year-old man has filed a complaint with the Pune ACB.
According to the information, the plaintiff has taken a loan from the bank, and its few installments have been overdue for a few months. Therefore, a house confiscation order was issued against the plaintiff a few days ago. However, when the plaintiff asked for the extension of the time period for action, the Revenue Assistant of Daund Tehsil, Madhav Reshewad, demanded a bribe of Rs 10 thousand from the complainant to extend the deadline of this order.
As the complainant was not ready to pay a bribe, he immediately filed a complaint against the accused in the Pune ACB office. After receiving the complaint, the ACB team verified the complaint on January 9 and 10.
After that, they laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe. The police have detained the accused, who has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act 7.
This operation was carried out by a team of Police Inspector Virnath Mane, Police Constable Tawre, Mane, and Driver Chavan under the guidance of Pune Zone Superintendent of Police Amol Tambe, Additional Superintendent of Police Dr. Sheetal Janve, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Nitin Jadhav.
