Woman Threatened and Assaulted for Lodging Police Complaint; Two Arrested

A distressing incident unfolded in Pimpri on Monday evening when a group of five men forcefully entered a woman’s residence, brandishing a chopper, and proceeded to wreak havoc. The shocking assault came in retaliation to the woman’s courageous act of lodging a police complaint against one of the suspects for allegedly harassing her daughter.

The woman recounted the traumatic experience to law enforcement, revealing that the intruders not only subjected her to threats and intimidation but also looted her daughter’s belongings. The purse, containing Rs1,300 in cash and a pair of silver earrings valued at Rs 2,250, fell victim to the robbers. The horrifying event left the neighborhood residents in a state of disbelief and shock.

Following the incident, two of the culprits were subsequently apprehended by the Pimpri police, while a search is underway for the remaining three suspects. The five men have been charged under Section 395 (pertaining to dacoity) and other pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code.

According to Sub-inspector A N Kokate from the Pimpri police, the ordeal appears to have stemmed from a prior complaint lodged by the woman against one of the suspects for harassing her daughter. Regrettably, only a non-cognizable offense had been registered at that time.

The sub-inspector explained that on the ill-fated Monday, the five men, including a relative of the victim, forcefully entered her residence, subjecting her to verbal abuse and threats in connection to her previous complaint. The assailants even went so far as to coerce her to vacate the vicinity immediately.

As the horrifying intrusion escalated, the men turned to violence, damaging the complainant’s daughter’s cellphone and pilfering her purse. Their destructive spree extended to the outdoor area, where they vandalized five two-wheelers using sharp weapons before departing the scene.
