The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has issued an important notice to residents in several areas, including Moshi, Charholi, Chovisawadi, Vadmukhwadi, Chikhli, Dudulgaon, Bhosari, Dighi, and Indrayaninagar. From June 13 to 15, these areas may experience irregular water supply, disturbances, and low pressure.
Cause of Disruption
This temporary disruption is due to disaster management work on the dams along the Indrayani River. The work is being carried out by the Khadakwasla Canal Sub-Division No. 2 under the Pune Irrigation Department. As a result of these efforts, water discharge from the Andhra Dam into the Indrayani River has been reduced.
Official Appeal for Conservation
Shrikant Savane, the Chief Engineer of the Water Supply Department, has urged residents to use water sparingly during this period. He emphasized the importance of cooperation from citizens to effectively manage the limited water supply.
“We appeal to all residents to conserve water and use it judiciously,” stated Savane. “Your cooperation is essential in ensuring that the available water is used efficiently during these few days of disruption.”
Measures for Residents
To mitigate the impact of the water supply disruptions, residents are advised to:
- Store sufficient water in advance.
- Avoid non-essential water usage.
- Postpone activities that require large amounts of water.
Community Cooperation
The PCMC’s proactive communication highlights the need for community cooperation during infrastructure maintenance and disaster management efforts. By working together, residents can help ensure a stable water supply and minimize inconvenience during these necessary maintenance activities.
