Pune, 20th August 2023: Pune’s urban travel scene has been given a vibrant twist with the launch of a tourist bus service by the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML). The much-anticipated tourist bus route, numbered 3, running from Deccan Gymkhana to Temghar Dam and Nilkantheshwar Temple, was inaugurated today by PMPML’s Chairman and Managing Director, Sachindra Pratap Singh.
The inauguration event saw the presence of esteemed personalities, including Chief Transport Manager (Operation) Satish Gavane, Labor and Public Relation Officer Satish Gate, Traffic Planning Officer Vijay Ranjane, and Depot Managers Santosh Kirve and Sanjay Kusalkar from N.T. Wadi and Pune Station Depots respectively.
The brand-new air-conditioned e-bus, assigned to Tourist Bus Service No. 3, embarked on its first journey from the Deccan Gymkhana bus stand. With 25 eager tourists onboard, the maiden voyage marked the commencement of a promising travel venture.
Drawing inspiration from the well-received Pune Darshan bus service, PMPML has introduced seven tourist bus routes, covering significant religious and tourist spots in the vicinity of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad cities. Operating exclusively on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays since May 1, 2023, this unique ‘tourist bus’ initiative utilizes air-conditioned buses for a comfortable travel experience. A budget-friendly fare of Rs 500 per passenger has been set for this extraordinary journey.
CMD Sachindra Pratap Singh, while addressing the attendees, urged pilgrims, tourists, and residents to make the most of PMPML’s affordable air-conditioned tourist bus service. He emphasized the value of choosing public transportation over private vehicles for a sustainable and convenient travel option.
