Pimpri Chinchwad :- Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, announced a new initiative to incentivize the sophisticated treatment of wastewater for municipal sector irrigation. Emphasizing the need for responsible sewage management, Fadnavis highlighted the state’s commitment to preventing the direct release of sewage into rivers. The announcement was made during the inauguration and groundbreaking ceremony of various projects in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
The state aims to follow the successful model in Nagpur, where efforts are underway to transform legacy waste at the Moshi Garbage Depot into a valuable resource. Biomining will be employed to clear waste-covered land, addressing environmental concerns and contributing to sustainable development.

In a monumental move, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Devendra Fadnavis spearheaded a transformative wave of development projects, collectively valued at 1,500 crores, in Pimpri-Chinchwad. The event witnessed the esteemed presence of Mahesh Landge, Appa Barne, Ashwini Jagtap, Umatai Khapre, and other dignitaries.
The projects, spanning from waste management to infrastructure development, were inaugurated and marked by groundbreaking ceremonies, signaling a significant stride towards holistic progress.
1. Vilhevadi Biomedical Waste Treatment Plant: The inauguration of the Vilhevadi Waste Treatment Project marked a major step in handling biomedical waste, boasting a capacity of 17.9 Tons Per Day.
2. Bhosari Pumping Station Sewage Treatment Plant (STP): The Bhosari Pumping Station STP project, with a focus on energy-saving and sustainability, was officially inaugurated.
3. Indrayani River Water Purification Project: Initiating a project for the purification and rejuvenation of the Indrayani River showcased a commitment to water resource management.
4. Chikhali Town Hall (Reservation No. 1/96): The newly unveiled Town Hall in Chikhali under Reservation No. 1/96 highlighted the dedication to civic infrastructure development.
5. Moshi ‘Hotel Waste to Biogas’ Project: The ‘Hotel Waste to Biogas’ project in Moshi, emphasizing sustainable waste management, was officially inaugurated.
6. National Clean Air Program (NCAP) Initiatives: Various NCAP initiatives, including Air Purification Systems and Stationary Fog Cannon Units, aimed at improving air quality in pollution-prone areas.
7. Kabaddi Training Center in Bhosari Gaonthan, Section 1: Inaugurating a Kabaddi training center aimed to promote sports and fitness in the community.
8. PMAY Housing Project in Chikhali: The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) housing project for economically weaker sections was inaugurated in Chikhali.
9. Pedestrian-Friendly Roads: New pedestrian-friendly roads, covering a total length of 12.40 kilometers, were inaugurated in various parts of Pimpri-Chinchwad.
Groundbreaking Ceremony for Infrastructure Development:
- Hospital building in Gairan, Moshi (Plot No. 648)
- Bioremediation of the old dumping site (Phase 2) at Moshi Garbage Depot
- New DP Roads measuring 12.40 kilometers in Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (Section 20, Bhosari)
- Construction of Municipal School Buildings in Nigdi, as per the Urban Street Design for Development of Nigdi-Dapodi Road.
- Development of Mukai Chowk to Chikhli Spine road and ancillary works. Under this to develop the missing link of the spine road in Triveninagar Chowk
- Development of BRT Corridor from Bhakti Shakti Chowk, Nigdi, to Mukai Chowk and other works under it
These projects collectively aim to enhance overall development, infrastructure, and the quality of life in Pimpri-Chinchwad, showcasing the government’s commitment to sustainable and inclusive growth.
