Students Lead the Way: Municipal Commissioner Becomes a Teacher on Teachers’ Day

Role Reversal: Students Become Municipal Commissioners of PCMC, While Municipal Commissioner Becomes a Teacher for a Day

In a unique and heartwarming initiative, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) welcomed an unusual change of roles on a special occasion. To celebrate Teachers’ Day, two bright students, Karan Kakde and Apeksha Mali, studying in class VII, were appointed as municipal commissioners of the civic body for a day. Simultaneously, the Municipal Commissioner himself embraced a new role by becoming a teacher at a municipal school.

The day commenced with the security guards posted at the municipal corporation saluting their new young bosses. Karan Kakde and Apeksha Mali took up their roles with enthusiasm, stepping into the shoes of municipal commissioners for the day. To add an element of authenticity to their experience, the young commissioners even conducted a review meeting with officials of the municipal corporation. Their responsibilities extended beyond the office as they paid a visit to the city’s fire brigade office, where they assessed the preparedness to handle emergency calls.

On the same day, within the premises of the municipal school, there was an equally remarkable transformation. The Municipal Commissioner himself became a teacher for the day, participating in the ‘Job Switch’ initiative. He embraced the role of an educator, engaging with the students and answering their queries. This exchange of roles provided a unique opportunity for both the students and the Municipal Commissioner to gain fresh insights. The students, in their newfound position as municipal commissioners, shared valuable feedback regarding changes they’d like to see in the education system, prompting thoughtful reflection by the Municipal Commissioner.

Teachers’ Day, celebrated annually on September 5th, took on a special and memorable dimension in the PCMC this year with this distinctive initiative, reinforcing the value of education and fostering a stronger bond between students, teachers, and the civic administration.
