Student Mobility Made Easy: PMPML’s Pass Initiative for Class 5th to 10th in Pimpri-Chinchwad

Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, in collaboration with the PMPML, is rolling out an initiative to provide free and subsidized bus travel passes to students from class 5th to 10th for the academic year 2024-25. This initiative aims to enhance access to education by easing transportation barriers for students residing within the Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal limits.

Pass Distribution Process

Pass distribution will commence on 15th June 2024, with distribution centers set up at strategic locations including Nigdi, Bhosari, Pimpri (Nehrunagar), and Pimpri HQ No. 2 (Lokhande Bhawan), as well as all pass centers. The application process involves submitting filled forms at designated Corporation offices or through school representatives.

School authorities can collect applications on behalf of their students and submit them collectively at the pass center, streamlining the process and reducing inconvenience for students. This initiative ensures that students can access passes without individually visiting pass centers, promoting efficiency and accessibility.

Eligibility and Subsidy

Students enrolled in both municipal and private schools within the Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal limits are eligible for the bus pass facility. While students from municipal schools will receive 100% subsidized passes, those from private schools will benefit from a 75% subsidy. Private school students will be issued a challan for the remaining 25% of the pass amount, based on their journey distance, after application verification from the Corporation’s office.

Application and Payment Process

Students can obtain passes by paying the challan amount at any Bank of Baroda branch within the municipal limits and submitting the challan, along with the application and required documents, at the nearest bus stand (PMPML). Application distribution has already commenced from 15th June 2024 at all Corporation warehouses.

Information Dissemination

Detailed information about the initiative is available at designated Corporation offices, including Nigdi, Bhosari, Pimpri (Nehrunagar), and Pimpri HQ No. 2 (Lokhande Bhawan). For inquiries, individuals can contact 020-24545454 for assistance.

Maximizing Benefits

The Corporation encourages students from both municipal and private schools within the Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal limits to maximize the benefits of this initiative. By removing transportation barriers, the initiative aims to facilitate seamless access to education for students across the region.
