In a groundbreaking decision, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has approved the construction of approximately 34 kilometers of roads in the crucial “B” and “D” wards of Wakad, Punawale, Tathawade, Mamurdi, Ravet, and Vikasnagar. Estimated at a cost of Rs. 450 to Rs. 500 crore, this transformative infrastructure project aims to enhance connectivity and alleviate traffic congestion in the region.
The initiative stems from the proactive efforts of Shankar Jagtap, the BJP’s Pimpri-Chinchwad City President, who took it upon himself to engage with residents in the Chinchwad Assembly Constituency. Recognizing the pressing need for better roads due to a surge in housing projects, educational institutions, and proximity to major economic hubs like Hinjewadi IT Park, Jagtap facilitated a meeting with Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh.
The approved road development plan encompasses various crucial projects, including service roads alongside the Mumbai-Bangalore highway, a bridge connecting Sangawade and Hinjawadi over the Pavana river, and several key roads in Vikasnagar, Punawale, and Tathawade. Efforts will be made to minimize disruptions during construction, and provisions for essential utilities like water supply pipelines, drainage lines, and power lines have been integrated into the plan.
Jagtap, emphasizing the commitment to improve infrastructure in the Chinchwad Assembly Constituency, highlighted continuous follow-ups with the administration over the past three months. The approved road construction, spanning 34 km, is anticipated to bring significant relief to citizens, enhancing accessibility and transportation facilities. Moreover, it will fortify connectivity between rural areas, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and Hinjewadi IT Park, with service roads expected to ease traffic pressure on the Pune-Bangalore highway.
The PCMC commissioner has been entrusted with promptly initiating construction work and ensuring the provision of necessary amenities for citizens. This milestone project represents a collaborative effort to address citizen concerns and cater to the evolving needs of the region.
