Pune’s Heartfelt Initiative: Amrit Kalash Yatra Gathers Soil and Grains from Homes Across the City

In a remarkable show of unity and patriotism, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has embarked on the “Amrit Kalash Yatra,” a part of the “Majhi Mati, Maja Desh” initiative, to collect soil and grains from households throughout Pune. The collected soil and grains are destined for Delhi, where they will contribute to the creation of ‘Amrit Vatika’ near the National War Memorial, as part of the central government’s nationwide initiative.

Additional Commissioner Vijay Kumar Khorate expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the city’s residents and representatives for their enthusiastic participation and unwavering cooperation in this noble endeavor. He also commended the dedication of the Municipal Corporation’s officers and employees.

The initiative commenced at Bhakti Shakti Chowk in Nigdi, where Naval Officers received a warm welcome, accompanied by stirring patriotic songs. During the event, Additional Commissioner Vijayakumar Khorate conveyed his sentiments and shared the significance of this heartfelt initiative.

The ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including Additional Commissioner Ulhas Jagtap, Deputy Commissioner Ravikiran Ghodke, Mininath Dandavate, Former Deputy Mayor Shailaja More, Sharad alias Raju Misal, Chief Security Officer Major Uday Jarande, Special Officer Kiran Gaikwad, and Naval Officer Captain M Satyanarayana Murthy from “Khamri Mo Sikkim.” The event saw the participation of military personnel, municipal employees, and citizens, all coming together to show their support.

The event commenced with a respectful offering of wreaths at the statues of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Saint Tukaram Maharaj by distinguished guests. The Amrit Kalash, symbolizing unity and the collective spirit, was gathered from the eight Zonal Offices and presented to Additional Commissioner Khorate and Jagtap.

Additional Commissioner Khorate shared insights into various municipal programs initiated under the guidance of Commissioner Shekhar Singh. The event was also marked by the unveiling of memorial plaques at two central locations in the city, along with the planting of 75 indigenous trees to commemorate the 75th year of Indian Independence. A special felicitation ceremony was conducted to honor the families of freedom fighters, martyrs, and ex-servicemen, emphasizing the city’s deep-rooted respect for its soil and heroes.

Moreover, the program featured an informative presentation about the remarkable car rally, “Khamri Go Sikkim,” which aimed to educate students and youth about opportunities and prospects in the army. The rally, involving 45 naval officers and senior officials of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, received a warm welcome from Additional Commissioner Khorate and Jagtap.

The ceremony resounded with patriotic fervor as Sagar Athwal and his colleagues presented the inspiring patriotic song “Zanda Uncha Rahe Hamara.” Public Relations Officer Prafulla Puranik, who skillfully moderated the program, also led the participants in reciting the Panchapran Oath. Deputy Commissioner Ravikiran Ghodke extended his heartfelt gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of this remarkable event.
