Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Police Crackdown on Roadromeos in College and School Areas

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 1st August 2023: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police, including the Anti-Gang Squad and Crime Branch Unit One, have taken strong action against the issue of roadromeos that has been plaguing the college and school areas in Chinchwad city.

Assistant Police Inspector Harish Mane of the Anti-Gang Squad reported that decisive action was taken against 27 minor roadromeos.

Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey has made it abundantly clear that any form of harassment or disturbance to students will not be tolerated, and swift action will be taken against those involved.

In a concerted effort to ensure the safety and security of girl students in school and college premises, officers and personnel of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, along with the Anti-Gang Squad and Crime Branch Unit One, conducted patrolling operations in plain clothes yesterday.

As a result of their proactive efforts, 27 roadromeos were apprehended for creating disturbances around various educational institutions, including Rajmata Jijau Shikshan Prasarak Mandal Bhosari, Balaji Law College Tathawade, MM College Kalewadi, Rajmata Jijau College Dudulgaon, Nirmal Bethany College Kalewadi, and Fattechand Jain College Chinchwad.

The police have also stressed the importance of reporting any instances of molestation or misdeeds by utilizing the complaint box available in colleges. Prior to this crackdown on roadromeos, the Anti-Narcotics Squad, in coordination with the Municipal Corporation, had already taken action against over a hundred Paan stalls near school and college premises in the city. The police have issued a stern warning that any complaints regarding harassment or related offenses will be dealt with firmly.

Commissioner of Police Vinayakumar Choubey asserted, “If any student in college or school faces harassment, she or her friend should immediately contact the police. We will respond promptly and take necessary action. Harassment of students will not be tolerated under any circumstances. In case of any distress, students can reach out to the Damini squad or police patrolling. For immediate help, call 112, and the police will promptly address any incidents of molestation or harassment involving young women.” The police are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of students, and they encourage the public to come forward and report any such incidents for swift action to be taken against the perpetrators.
