Pune Metro Gears Up for Pimpri to Swargate Route in March 2024

Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro Line

Pune’s much-anticipated Metro system, which made its debut last year, has become a crucial addition to the region’s public transportation network. In its initial phase, the Metro commenced operations between PCMC and Phugewadi, significantly enhancing commuting options for residents. As of August 1, the Metro expanded its service to the civil court, further enhancing connectivity.

In the upcoming phase of expansion, the Metro will extend from Pimpri to Swargate, with the official inauguration scheduled for March 2024. This development is poised to offer a direct and efficient route for the residents of Pimpri Chinchwad, ultimately saving valuable travel time for passengers.

The completion of one of the three metro lines in Pimpri-Chinchwad and Pune cities is expected by the end of December, enabling Pune residents to travel directly from Vanaz to Ramwadi. Following this achievement, the focus will shift to the Pimpri to Swargate route, extending the Metro’s reach and accessibility.

While some Metro routes in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad have already commenced operations, including the routes from Pimpri to Civil Court and Vanaz to Ruby Hall, passenger services are already in full swing. The construction of the remaining lines, connecting Ruby Hall to Ramwadi Metro Station and Civil Court to Swargate Metro Station, is progressing rapidly. Ruby Hall to Ramwadi Metro Station is expected to be open for passenger service by the end of December 2023, while the Civil Court to Swargate Metro Station is set to open its doors by the end of March 2024, according to the Metro Administration.
