Pune: Huge stock of ganja seized in Hinjewadi, two arrested; Goods worth ₹14 lakh seized

Ganja Seized In Hinjewadi

PUNE / PIMPRI: In Pimpri-Chinchwad 31 kg ganja worth ₹9.33 lakh has been seized. The Hinjewadi police took the action on Monday on an internal road of the main road from Wakad bridge to Bhumkar Chowk. The police arrested two persons and seized goods worth ₹14 lakh.

The accused have been identified as Mainuddin Abdul Sattar (23), a resident of Hinjewadi and hailing from Bihar and Bipalabh Bidan Rana (23), a resident of Hinjewadi. Police peon Ravi Prakash Pawar has lodged a complaint at the Hinjewadi police station. The police have registered an FIR against the accused under the NDPS Act.

Officials and policemen of the Anti-Illegal Business Squad of the Hinjewadi police station were patrolling in the area. Policeman Ravi Pawar came to know that a person would be coming at Wakadkar Vasti in a tempo (MH14 HU 2553) to sell ganja. A police team laid a trap on the internal road of the main road from Wakad bridge to Bhumkar Chowk.

When the police stopped a pick up van and questioned the driver, he said he was carrying the leftovers of vegetables. When the police searched the van, they found 17 packets in two nylon bags. When the packets were opened, the police found ganja. The police seized 31 kg ganja worth ₹9.33 lakh and tempo worth ₹14.38 lakh.

The action was taken under the guidance of CP Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Joint CP Dr Sanjay Shinde, Addl CP Vasant Pardeshi, DCP Kakasaheb Dole, ACP Vishal Hire by Sr PI Shriram Pol of Hinjewadi police station, PI Sunil Dahifale, PI Sonyabapu Deshmukh, API Ajitkumar Khatal of Anti-Illegal Business Squad, ASI Mahesh Waibase, policemen Santosh Damse and Ravi Pawar.
