Pimpri Chinchwad’s ‘Post a Waste’ Initiative: A Pioneering Step in Waste Management

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is taking strides toward responsible waste management with the introduction of its innovative ‘Post a Waste’ initiative. This program is designed to streamline waste disposal processes and enhance civic engagement, setting an example for efficient complaint resolution.

A Cleaner Future with ‘Post a Waste’

The ‘Post a Waste’ initiative, catering to the citizens of Pimpri Chinchwad, is poised to transform waste management. It is accessible through the official Municipal Corporation website (www.pcmcindia.gov.in) and the Sarathi Mobile App. Covering a broad spectrum of waste categories, this initiative spans green waste, construction debris, surplus food from eateries, and miscellaneous scraps.

Empowering Citizens for Better Waste Management

The program stands out by providing a solution for the disposal of four specific waste types, including electronic waste, via the ‘Smart Sarthi Op’ feature. When a complaint is registered, the Municipal Corporation swiftly assigns it to the relevant agency for immediate action. Each citizen receives a unique complaint number upon registration, ensuring transparency and responsibility throughout the waste management process.

Real-Time Tracking of Complaints

To ensure the swift resolution of complaints, citizens are encouraged to upload photographs of the waste site through the application. This innovation empowers users to monitor their complaints in real time, view site photographs, and check the status of resolution. The system guarantees a quick response to waste-related issues.

Ensuring Timely Resolution

The Health Department and Environment Department have jointly implemented a mechanism for penal action against the designated agency if complaints are not resolved within a stipulated timeframe. This accountability structure motivates efficient waste management.

A Collaborative Effort

The ‘Smart Sarathi’ app, which powers the ‘Post a Waste’ initiative, was developed with the valuable contributions of the Health Department, Environment Department, and Parks Department. Municipal Commissioner and Administrator, Shekhar Singh, played a pivotal role in turning this visionary initiative into a reality.
