Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic Update: Maratha Morcha Spurs Citywide Modifications

The Maratha Reservation Morcha, under the leadership of Manoj Jarange Patil, has spurred the Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Police into action, necessitating the implementation of traffic adjustments across different areas of Pimpri Chinchwad.

According to additional details shared by the Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Police, the route for the Maratha Reservation Morcha march is slated to progress towards Mumbai, encompassing key locations such as the Rajiv Gandhi Bridge, Jagtap Dairy, Dange Chowk, Birla Hospital Chafekar Chowk, Ahimsa Chowk Mahavir Chowk, Khandobamal Chowk, Tilak Chowk, Bhakti Shakti, Puna Gate, Dehu Road, and Talegaon. Consequently, commencing from 6:00 am on January 24, 2024, the traffic arrangements falling under the jurisdiction of the Pimpri Chinchwad Commissionerate will undergo necessary modifications.

Sangavi Traffic Department:

  • Vehicles are not allowed to enter the stretch from Aundh D Mart to Sangvi Phata. Those on this route are directed to turn left at Pol Chowk and proceed to their destination via Nagraj Road.
  • Commuters originating from Pimple Nilakh are advised to take the Jagtap Chowk – Kaspate Chowk route through Vishalnagar DP Road instead of heading towards Rakshak Chowk.
  • Vehicles originating from Kaspate Chowk can directly reach their destination at Shivar Chowk – Kokane Chowk through the grade separator below Jagtap Dairy Bridge, eliminating the need to travel on both sides of Aundh-Ravet Road.
  • Vehicles from Shivaar Chowk will proceed directly through the grade separator from Kaspate Chowk to reach their destination, avoiding right or left turns towards Aundh-Ravet Road.
  • Entry of vehicles from Tapkir Chowk, MM Chowk, heading towards Kalewadi Phata Bridge is strictly forbidden. Instead, they should go from Rahatani Phata Chowk to their destination via Rahatani Gaon and Godambe Chowk.
  • Vehicles from Sangavi village heading towards Sangvi Phata should pass through Shitole Pump, Old Sangvi, and Vasantdada Putala Chowk, Old Sangvi, Dapodi.

Wakad Traffic Department:

  • Vehicles from Tathwade Gaon Chowk to Dange Chowk should make a right turn at Tathwade Chowk to reach Tathwade Underpass or proceed via the hanging bridge.
  • Vehicles from Kalakhadak to Dange Chowk should make a U-turn at Kalakhadak and continue towards the destination through Bhumkar Chowk.
  • Vehicles heading to Dange Chowk via Wakad Datta Mandir Road can turn either right or left at Annabhau Sathe Chowk to reach their destination.
  • Vehicles approaching Kalewadi Phata from Chhatrapati Chowk, Kaspate Vasti should make a left turn at Chhatrapati Chowk and continue towards their destination.
  • Vehicles from Barne Corner, Thergaon, heading towards Thergaon Phata can make a right turn or a U-turn towards Tapkir Chowk.
  • Vehicles traveling from Thergaon to Birla Hospital Chowk will be diverted either through Raghavendra Maharaj Math or via Barne Corner, Thergaon, to reach their destination.
  • Vehicles from Kaverinagar Police Colony are forbidden from accessing the Kaverinagar underpass. Instead, they should proceed from the opposite corner of Wakad Bhaji Mandai, turn left towards Wakad Police Station, and continue to their destination via Datta Mandir Road.

Chinchwad Traffic Department:

  • The road from Dalvinagar Chowk to Khandobamaal and Chinchwad station is closed, redirecting vehicles through the Bijlinagar Chowk route.
  • Vehicles from River View Chowk to Dange Chowk and from Dange Chowk to Mahaveer Chowk cannot access their route. They are advised to take Chinchwad Farm Road or go to Bhosari via Bijlinagar Walhekarwadi.
  • Vehicles from River View heading to Chinchwad Nagar T Junction will proceed through Ravet.
  • The road connecting Lokmanya Hospital Chowk, Chinchwad, to Mahavir Chowk, Chinchwad, is closed. Vehicles on this road will turn left at Lokmanya Hospital Chowk and proceed via Dalvinagar to their destination.
  • Access from SKF Chowk, Chinchwad, to Khandoba Mal Chowk is restricted. Vehicles on this route should take the Bijlinagar Chowk route.
  • Vehicles from Link Road, Pimpri, will now go through Morya Hospital Chowk and Keshavnagar instead of Chaphekar Chowk.
  • Entrance to Mahavir Chowk and Shivaji Chowk is closed. Vehicles on this route will be redirected via Mohnagar Chowk.
  • Vehicles from Bijlinagar Chowk to Triveni Hospital Chowk to River View Chowk have no access, redirecting traffic to Ravet.
  • To reach your destination from Mukai Chowk to Chinchwad, make a left turn at Triveni Hospital Valhekarwadi. Continue via Parshwanath Chowk, Bhel Chowk, Kachghar Chowk (left turn and U-turn), and further via Bhakti Shakti Chowk, Ankush Chowk, and Triveninagar.

Pimpri Traffic Department:

  • Traffic from Niramay Hospital to Mahaveer Chowk will turn left at Morwadi Chowk instead of going straight or right.
  • All types of vehicles are prohibited from Parashuram Chowk to Khandobamal Chowk. Traffic will be directed through RD Aga, Thermax Chowk to the destination.
  • Vehicles from KSB Chowk to Mahaveer Chowk and Chhatrapati Shivaji Chowk will be closed. Vehicles on this route will turn left at Basaveshwar Chowk and go to the destination via Auto Clutter.

Nigdi Traffic Department:

  • Traffic from Thermax Chowk will follow RD Aga Marg until reaching the Garware Company compound. Instead of proceeding towards Khandobamal Chowk from the T junction, it will divert towards the destination via Parashuram Chowk through Mohannagar Chinchwad on the left side.
  • Traffic originating from Dalvinagar Pul and Akurdi Gaothan will be directed to their respective destinations through Ganesh Vision and Akurdi Gaothan, bypassing the route via Khandobamal Chowk.
  • Traffic from Durga Chowk will be redirected to Thermax Chowk or through Yamunanagar instead of Tilak Chowk.
  • Traffic originating from Bhel Chowk will be directed towards the intended destination through Saawli Hotel, avoiding Tilak Chowk.
  • Traffic from Appughar/Ravet and Transport Nagar will be directed to their respective destinations through Ankush Chowk and Triveninagar via the subway under Bhakti Shakti Circle, instead of crossing Bhakti Shakti Bridge.
  • Traffic originating from Bhakti Shakti and heading towards Dehu Road from Triveninagar Ankush Chowk will be directed straight to Dehu Road Mumbai via Appughar Ravet, passing through the underpass at Bhakti Shakti Circle.
  • Traffic from Dehu Road will be redirected from Bhakti Shakti Circle to Triveninagar Chowk or, alternatively, can take the route from Bhakti Shakti Flyover in front of Poonagate Hotel, proceeding directly through the grade separator to reach the intended destination.
  • Mumbai-bound traffic will be redirected from Bhakti Shakti to the desired destination via the Hanging Bridge, following the instructions given to the devotees.

Bhosari Traffic Department:

  • Vehicles traveling from Pune, Khadki, Dapodi, and Phugewadi towards Bhakti Shakti Chowk will now take the route via Moshi Chowk or Kaspate Chowk from Nashik junction instead of directly going to Bhakti Shakti Chowk.
  • Vehicles traveling from Chakan, Moshi, Alandi side towards Mumbai side will reach their intended destination by taking the Spine Road via Panjarpol Junction, Triveninagar, Bhakti Shakti Underpass through Ravet or Nashik Phata, Kaspate Chowk via Wakad Naka.

Dehu Road Traffic Department:

  • Traffic from Talawade to Dehu Kamaan, Old Mumbai will come to a complete halt and will be redirected through Dehu Gaon to reach its intended destination.
  • The traffic flow originating from the Mumbai Pune Express Highway will experience a complete closure at the Somatane Phata, Dehu Road exit.
  • All traffic bound for Mumbai via the Bengaluru Highway will face a complete prohibition on the old highway, starting exclusively from the Kiwale Bridge. Heavy and small vehicles will be directed to their respective destinations via the express highway. Additionally, two-wheelers will follow the route from Kiwale Panchar through Krishna Chowk, Lodha Skim, and Gahunje village to reach their desired destinations.
  • All traffic originating from Mumbai and heading towards Pune will be directed to their destination via Bengaluru Highway from Central Chowk. After reaching Bhakti Shakti Chowk, the procession will take the old highway, and as a result, traffic is currently being redirected through Vadgaon Chowk.

Talegaon Traffic Department:

  • All traffic originating from Mumbai and heading towards Pune will be directed to their destination via Bengaluru Highway from Central Chowk. After reaching Bhakti Shakti Chowk, the procession will take the old highway, and as a result, traffic is currently being redirected through Vadgaon Chowk.
  • The entry of heavy and bulky traffic on Talegaon Chakan Road 548-D towards Mumbai will be closed. Vehicles en route will be directed to proceed to their destination via HP Chowk in Mahalunge Traffic Division.
  • All vehicles approaching ABC Petrol Pump Chowk from Bellador will be directed to turn left instead of continuing straight or turning right to reach their intended destination.

The aforementioned traffic modifications will take effect starting at 6.00 am on 24/1/2024. During this time, all vehicles, with the exception of those belonging to essential services, will be prohibited from accessing the roads. As the procession progresses, the traffic flow will be improved. Therefore, drivers are advised to utilize alternative routes.
