Chinchwad: With the countdown to New Year’s Eve underway, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate has taken proactive steps to enhance public safety during celebrations. In a bid to curb incidents related to intoxicated driving, the police have strategically positioned 30 checkpoints across the city.
The precise locations of these checkpoints remain undisclosed to maintain an element of surprise and deter individuals from attempting to evade the checks. The primary objective is to ensure that all residents comply with traffic regulations, especially those related to driving under the influence of alcohol.
At each checkpoint, drivers will undergo comprehensive questioning, and breath samples will be tested using a breathalyzer machine. Any driver found to be under the influence of alcohol will face legal consequences, including booking and vehicle impoundment. The police stress the importance of responsible behavior, urging citizens not to drive under the influence or engage in reckless activities.
Acknowledging that New Year’s Eve is a time for celebration, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police encourage citizens to welcome the new year with enthusiasm while respecting the law. The strategically placed checkpoints aim to serve as a preventive measure, ensuring that festivities remain safe and enjoyable for all residents.
