Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Cracks Down on Organized Crime: Three Gangs Booked Under MCOCA

In a major breakthrough, the Pimpri-Chinchwad police have taken strict action against three organized crime gangs under the purview of the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA). A total of 16 accused members from these notorious gangs operating in Pimpri, Talegaon Dabhade, and Bhosari were apprehended in a joint operation. This decisive action was carried out under the directives of Police Commissioner Vinaykumar Choubey.

Among those arrested, eight individuals were associated with the gang led by Yashwant alias Atul Subhash Dongre in Pimpri, four were linked to Sudhir Anil Pardeshi’s gang in Talegaon Dabhade, and four more were part of Saurabh Santuram Motirave’s gang in Bhosari. These gangs were allegedly involved in a series of heinous crimes, including murder, attempted murder, theft, destruction of evidence, assault, housebreaking, vehicle vandalism, and arson, occurring within the jurisdictions of Pimpri, Chakan, Talegaon Dabhade, and Bhosari police stations.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have been diligently employing the ‘MCOCA Pattern’ as part of their strategy to combat organized crime in the region. This year alone, they have taken action against 226 criminals associated with 24 different gangs, showcasing their proactive approach to curbing criminal activities in the city.

As per records from the past years, the prosecution under the MCOCA has been steadily increasing, indicating the authorities’ commitment to tackling organized crime effectively:

  • 2018 – 8 prosecutions
  • 2019 – 59 prosecutions
  • 2020 – 50 prosecutions
  • 2021 – 187 prosecutions
  • 2022 – 129 prosecutions
  • 2023 – 226 prosecutions

The implementation of the MCOCA has proven to be an essential tool for law enforcement agencies in addressing organized crime and bringing those involved to justice. By utilizing this stringent law, the police aim to dismantle criminal networks, disrupt their operations, and ensure the safety and security of the residents in the region.
