Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Takes a Stand: Employees Warned for Neglecting Family Obligations

Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has recently taken a firm stand against employees who have neglected their responsibilities towards their family members, leading to notices being issued to four individuals. These employees had secured jobs on compassionate grounds and through the Lad-Page program but failed to fulfill their obligations towards their parents, mother-in-law, and in-laws.

In the last five years, a total of 444 employees have been recruited into the municipal service, with 307 employees hired through the Lad-Page program and 137 through compassionate appointments. It has been observed that sanitation workers in the health department often opt for voluntary retirement a few years before their scheduled retirement to ensure convenience for their heirs. In such cases, eligible heirs are provided with successor appointments on compassionate grounds, as recommended by the Lad-Page Committee.

Prior to joining the municipal service, eligible heirs are required to submit a self-declared affidavit or bond to the administration, pledging to support and take care of their family members. This practice is put in place to ensure that the parents, mother-in-law, and father-in-law are well taken care of until the heir secures a job.

Unfortunately, there have been instances where individuals have neglected their familial responsibilities even after gaining employment. The administration has received multiple complaints from employees who took voluntary retirement, expressing concerns about their heirs’ lack of care and attention towards family members. As a result, the administration has taken stringent action against four employees by issuing notices. These employees have been warned that failure to rectify their behavior may result in dismissal from their municipal service positions based on the commitments they made in their bonds.

In light of the recurring complaints regarding heirs neglecting their family duties after securing employment, the administration is taking proactive measures to address these concerns. Counseling sessions will be organized for the employees involved to help them understand the importance of fulfilling their familial responsibilities along with their professional commitments.

To ensure the effectiveness of these counseling sessions, Mahadev Botre, a renowned social worker from YCM Hospital, has been appointed to conduct them. The aim is to provide a platform for employees to discuss their challenges and difficulties in balancing their personal and professional lives. Through these counseling sessions, the administration hopes to foster a sense of responsibility and empathy among employees, encouraging them to prioritize their family’s well-being while also excelling in their jobs.

Ultimately, the initiative taken by Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation reflects their commitment to ensuring a supportive and responsible work environment, where employees not only excel professionally but also take pride in fulfilling their duties towards their loved ones. By addressing the issue at its core, the administration seeks to create a positive and compassionate workplace culture that benefits both the employees and their families.
