PCMC’s Environmental Initiative: ‘Air Bin Purifiers’ and ‘Mist Fountains’ to Tackle Air Quality Woes

Air pollution in the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) area has been steadily on the rise in recent years, with worsening air quality attributed to urbanization and industrialization. Responding to this growing concern, the PCMC’s Environment Department has embarked on an initiative to install ‘Air Bin Purifiers’ and ‘Mist Fountains’ as part of its strategy to address air pollution.

Sanjay Kulkarni, Joint City Engineer (Environment) at PCMC Stated, “Indeed, PCMC is in the process of introducing ‘Air Bin Purifiers’ and ‘Mist Fountains’ in various locations across Pimpri Chinchwad, including Kokane Chowk, Talawade Chowk, Kaspate Wasti, and more.”

Furthermore, it has been reported that the concentration of pollutant particles in the air has been rising, leading to health issues such as colds, coughs, and shortness of breath among residents. The proliferation of vehicles in the city has significantly contributed to this problem, as fine particles become mixed with the air. Additionally, the construction sector’s dust emissions have been on the rise, further exacerbating the air quality. In light of these concerns, ‘Air Bin Purifiers’ and ‘Mist Fountains’ are set to be installed at critical intersections throughout the city.
