PCMC Takes Stringent Action Against Property Tax Defaulters: 13 Properties Set for Auction

In a significant move, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is set to auction 13 properties on March 28, targeting defaulters who have failed to pay their property taxes. This marks the municipality’s inaugural auction of seized properties, reflecting a firm stance on tax compliance. The outstanding amount owed to PCMC by seven residential and six non-residential properties amounts to Rs 60.83 lakh.

The properties scheduled for auction include four from Wadmukhwadi in Charholi, three from Nigdi and Tathawade, and one each from Sangvi, Pimpri, and Pimple Nilakh. The auction proceedings will be held at the civic body’s property tax department office from 12 to 3 p.m. Interested participants are required to register by visiting the PCMC office before March 27.

According to a senior PCMC official, the decision to auction these properties follows a proposal submitted last month by local officials to the auction committee, chaired by the additional municipal commissioner. The 13 properties evaluated by the committee will be part of the first phase, with the remaining eleven to be offered for auction following the receipt of evaluation reports.

The official emphasized that property owners still have an opportunity to retain their properties if the outstanding debts are settled by March 28th.

This initiative by PCMC underscores the municipality’s commitment to fiscal discipline and ensures that property tax defaulters face consequences for non-compliance.
