PCMC Takes Action Against Construction Sites for Mosquito Breeding in Nigdi Amid Dengue Outbreak

Dengue Cases In Pune

Nigdi, 15th July 2023: In response to a dengue outbreak in the twin city, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has intensified its efforts to address the issue of mosquito breeding at construction sites. As part of its latest action, PCMC officials have imposed fines on five construction sites located at Bhel Chowk, Nigdi.

The PCMC officials fined four construction sites a sum of Rs 2,000 each, while one construction site faced a fine of Rs 8,000. This proactive approach by the municipal corporation reflects its commitment to addressing the mosquito breeding issue. Notices are being issued as part of a special drive targeting construction sites.

Health officials from the PCMC have reported over 1,000 suspected cases of dengue in Pimpri Chinchwad this year alone. In light of this, the civic body has appealed to construction site owners and citizens to cooperate in their efforts to combat mosquito breeding by maintaining cleanliness in the surrounding areas.

Preventing mosquito breeding is crucial in controlling the spread of dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases. Construction sites, with their open spaces and potential for stagnant water accumulation, can become breeding grounds for mosquitoes. By taking swift action and imposing fines, the PCMC aims to raise awareness among construction site owners and encourage them to implement effective measures to prevent mosquito breeding.

The cooperation of citizens is equally important in this endeavor. The PCMC urges residents to take proactive steps to keep their surroundings clean and eliminate any potential breeding sites, such as stagnant water in containers, discarded tires, or other items that can hold water.

By working together, the PCMC and the citizens of Pimpri Chinchwad can effectively combat the dengue outbreak and create a safer and healthier environment for all. The need for continued vigilance and adherence to preventive measures remains paramount to ensure the well-being of the community.
