PCMC Launches ‘Swachh Teerth Abhiyan’ to Cleanse 53 Temples in Pimpri Chinchwad

Pimpri, 19th January 2024: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is taking significant strides towards cleanliness with the initiation of the ‘Swachh Teerth Abhiyan.’ Aligned with the principles of the “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan,” this campaign targets 53 temples in Pimpri Chinchwad and will continue until January 21.

Cleanliness Drive Highlights:

  • Campaign Period: Till January 21
  • Participating Temples: 53 in Pimpri Chinchwad
  • Initiatives: Collection of usable items, deposit at RRR centres, clean urns for waste, plastic ban awareness
  • Participants: Officers, employees, temple functionaries, citizens, students, organizations, and women’s self-help groups
  • Monitoring: Geotagged photos uploaded daily on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan website

In response to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s directive, PCMC is extending the drive to include 17 major roads and squares in Pimpri Chinchwad. The campaign, operational from 7 am to 2 pm, will involve coordination with traffic police for seamless execution.

Simultaneously, a comprehensive cleaning campaign, following the Chief Minister’s instructions, will unfold in every ward, encouraging active participation from former corporators, social organizations, and citizens.

PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh emphasized, “By the directives of the Union government, Swachh Teertha Abhiyan is currently in progress across 53 temples in the city until January 21. Active participation in this campaign is encouraged by former corporators, representatives of various social organizations, and citizens. Concurrently, following Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s instructions, a comprehensive cleaning campaign is underway in every ward.”

Yashwant Dange, Assistant Commissioner in the Health Department of PCMC, stressed the necessity of providing concise information, up to 50 words, to the health department regarding the Swachh Teerth Abhiyan program. This information should encompass details such as the program name, ward number, participating officers, employees, former corporators, organizations involved, and the identification numbers of the temples that underwent cleaning.
