PCMC Increases Inspection of Construction Sites to Prevent Dengue Outbreak: 548 Sites Inspected

In a bid to prevent the outbreak of dengue in Pimpri Chinchwad, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has intensified its efforts by increasing inspections of construction sites and various areas. Notices are being issued to ensure compliance with preventive measures against mosquito-borne diseases.

The municipal corporation has deployed additional officials for inspections in eight zones as part of their preventive measures. Since June and July, over one lakh residential and commercial establishments, including approximately 548 construction sites, have been inspected. Regular inspections of these establishments have been conducted to ensure ongoing compliance.

During these inspections, a total of 288 confirmed breeding sites and 539 potential breeding sites for mosquitoes have been identified. The Health Department has issued notices to 287 residents and commercial establishments, requiring them to permanently eliminate these breeding sites within two months. Additionally, fines totaling Rs 57,000 have been imposed on eight establishments that failed to comply with the notices.

Yashwant Dange, Assistant Commissioner of the Health Department, mentioned that the municipal corporation has formulated a plan to prevent the spread of dengue and has conducted meetings with regional ward offices. Ward-level inspection campaigns have been intensified as per the instructions given.

The municipal corporation has emphasized its focus on construction sites across the city and has begun issuing notices to the parties involved following inspections. Failure to comply with these notices will result in legal action being taken against the non-compliant establishments.

Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh has emphasized the importance of immediate elimination of mosquito breeding sites in industrial establishments, construction sites, offices, households, commercial shops, and all establishments in their vicinity. Stringent action will be taken against those who fail to comply with the directives.

The Health Department has reported three cases of dengue in the past year up to July 11. Furthermore, there have been around 1,014 suspected cases of dengue-like symptoms identified from June to July. The PCMC remains committed to its efforts in preventing the spread of dengue and ensuring the well-being of its residents.
