PCMC: Helpline launched for complaints related to water supply; Responsibility fixed on officers

PCMC Offers Tax Concessions

PIMPRI: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has continued its policy of alternate day water supply citing lack of water supply with adequate pressure despite the Pavana dam having more than adequate storage to care of water requirement for a year.

The civic administration started alternate day water supply from November 25, 2019 due to leakage, supply with reduced pressure and increasing complaints of citizens. There is 96 per cent storage in the Pavana dam. Citizens were hoping that they would get water every day but the civic body has continued the alternate day water supply citing adequate and equal water supply to all.

Meanwhile, there were technical problems due to power failure, non-functioning of pumps and breaking of water pipelines. A question was being raised where the citizens should complain has forced the civic body to start a helpline and fix the responsibility on officials. Citizens can complain on Sarathi helpline 8888006666 and water supply grievance cell (24 hours) on 7722060999.

The water supply schedule is available on pcmcindia.gov.in website. The contact numbers of deputy and junior engineers have been mentioned in a ward wise manner. These officials should be contacted in case of problems. If these officials don’t solve the problem, the executive engineer of the concerned divisions should be contacted. If needed, joint city engineer or addl commissioner should be contacted.

Executive Engineer Ramnath Takle has been given the responsibility of A, C, E, F and some part of H wards and Executive Engineer Ajay Suryawanshi has been given the responsibility of B, D, G and some parts of A and H wards. For each ward, deputy engineers have been appointed and junior engineers have also been appointed to help them.

Shrikant Savane, Joint City Engineer, Water Supply department, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, said, “If there is a power failure and if there is a leakage in the pipeline, water supply is affected. The timetable of water supply is changed according to the situation. If there is any complaint about water supply, citizens should contact the complaint cell or Sarathi helpline.”
