On the Road to Frustration: Pune Commuters Seek Solutions for PMPML Woes

Passengers relying on Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) buses for their daily commute have voiced growing frustration over persistent issues with drivers’ conduct and bus services. Commuters are facing hardships ranging from buses not stopping at designated points to incidents of speeding past stops without allowing boarding or alighting. Despite efforts to escalate the matter to the PMPML administration, complaints often seem to fall on deaf ears, with reports of harassment deterring many from speaking up.

Challenges and Complaints

Issues extend beyond driver conduct to the lack of designated bus stops in certain areas. Narrow roads or insufficient space have led to makeshift yellow-colored stops arranged by PMPML, causing confusion among passengers due to the absence of clear signages and stopping points. Over a thousand complaints have been lodged, covering punctuality, driver indiscipline, pass-related problems, and deliberate harassment of senior passengers. Senior citizens, such as Mohanrao Salunkhe, emphasize the lack of improvement in drivers’ conduct despite multiple grievances.

Immediate Attention Needed

The frustration among commuters calls for immediate attention and concrete action to rectify the recurring problems plaguing PMP bus services. While a PMPML driver assures the dignity of elderly passengers, complaints persist about unattended grievances and little acknowledgment from the authorities. Satish Ghate, PRO, PMP, emphasizes the administration’s commitment to passenger service, and Nitin Narvekar, joint MD, PMPML, encourages direct contact for prompt action on specific incidents.
