Maratha Community’s Warning Forces Political Leaders to Skip Pimpri-Chinchwad Visits

In response to the stern warning issued by the Sakal Maratha community, political leaders are cancelling their planned visits and events within Pimpri-Chinchwad. This recent directive led to the abrupt cancellation of the scheduled visit by Dharashiv MP Omraje Nimbalkar and MLA Kailas Ghadge-Patil, who were invited to an event organized by the Dharashiv Foundation.

The ongoing Maratha reservation protests across the state have been gaining momentum, accompanied by growing dissatisfaction with political leaders. As protestors amplify their demands through hunger strikes, marches, and demonstrations, resistance to political leaders’ presence in villages has intensified. This firm stance is notably affecting various state leaders, adding to the mounting pressure they face.

Pimpri-Chinchwad is currently the site of a hunger strike initiated by Manoj Jarange-Patil’s movement, further emphasizing that political figures and leaders will no longer be granted permission to hold events or meetings within the city.

Recently, the State Opposition Leader, Ambadas Danve, visited YCM Hospital in Pimpri, where his presence was met with public protests by Satish Kale of Maratha Kranti Morcha and his supporters, who displayed black flags in opposition to Danve.

Meanwhile, the Dharashiv Foundation had organized a program in Rahatani on Sunday, expected to be attended by Dharashiv MP Omraje Nimbalkar and MLA Kailas Ghadge-Patil. In anticipation of potential backlash from the Maratha community, both leaders released a video statement expressing their support for the Manoj Jarange-Patil movement and announcing the cancellation of their visit to Pimpri-Chinchwad.
