Maharashtra MSME Defence Expo 2024 Inaugurated, Paving the Way for Defence Manufacturing Growth

In a momentous inauguration ceremony, the ‘Maharashtra MSME Defence Expo 2024’ was officially launched at the Pune International Exhibition and Convention Center (PIECC) in Moshi, Pune. The event witnessed the presence of prominent figures, including Devendra Fadanvis, Deputy CM of Maharashtra, Chandrakant Patil, Uday Samant, Shrirang Barane, and key representatives from the defence industry.

The Expo, scheduled from 24th to 26th February, marks a significant initiative by the Ministry of Industries (Maharashtra Government) with support from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The Knowledge Partner for this pioneering event is NIBE Limited, led by Ganesh Nibe.

Devendra Fadanvis’ Vision for Defence Manufacturing: Devendra Fadanvis, during the inauguration, highlighted the State Government’s commitment to advancing the aerospace and defence manufacturing sector. He announced the formulation of an updated Aerospace, Defence Manufacturing Policy, building on the foundation laid in 2017. Fadanvis emphasized the government’s support for the supply chain in the sector through the creation of four defence manufacturing clusters, positioning Maharashtra as a leader in defence equipment manufacturing.

Strategic Partners and Participants: The Expo features strategic partnerships with industry giants such as L&T, Solar, Tata Advanced Systems, and Bharat Forge Limited. Defence MSMEs, including Max Aerospace and NIBE Limited, signed MOUs with the state government during the inauguration, signifying collaborative efforts for growth and innovation.

NIBE Limited: Pioneering Technology and Sustainability: Founded in 2021 by Ganesh Ramesh Nibe, NIBE Limited is at the forefront of technology and sustainability. Specializing in critical component manufacturing for the defence industry, NIBE Limited also contributes to E-Vehicles and the BVM R&D Foundation. Ganesh Nibe expressed the company’s commitment to Atmanirbhar Bharat, actively participating in initiatives fostering self-reliance in the defence sector. The company aims to enhance the nation’s defence capabilities through indigenous development and innovation in defence technologies.

Expo Highlights and Engagement: The Maharashtra MSME Defence Expo will showcase advanced technologies and equipment, providing a platform for Armed forces, Defence PSUs, Ordnance factories, and Defence MSME companies. Visitors, engineering students, and citizens will have the opportunity to explore stalls between 10 am to 6 pm, gaining insights into cutting-edge innovations and contributions to the defence sector.

Vote of Thanks and Closing Ceremony: Ganesh Nibe, the Founder and Managing Director of NIBE Limited, presented the vote of thanks in the inauguration ceremony, expressing gratitude to all stakeholders, partners, and participants. The Expo promises to be a catalyst for collaboration, innovation, and growth in the defence manufacturing landscape.
