IT Revolution in Pimpri-Chinchwad: The Promising Future of Moshi-Charholi-Chikhali

In an exciting development, Pimpri-Chinchwad, an industrial and auto hub, is all set to transform into a thriving IT hub with the creation of a state-of-the-art IT park. This visionary project aligns with the state government’s IT policy and takes its first step in the rapidly growing regions of Moshi-Charholi-Chikhali, thanks to the proactive efforts of BJP MLA Mahesh Landge.

Mahesh Landge, BJP MLA representing the Bhosari Constituency, shared, “The state envisions attracting a substantial investment of Rs 95,000 crore in the IT and IT support services sector in the coming years, with the goal of creating 3.5 million new employment opportunities. To bring this vision to life, the initial IT project will be strategically located in the rapidly evolving ‘Charholi-Moshi-Chikhali Residential Corridor’ within Pimpri-Chinchwad. This strategic move aims to address the developmental backlog in the region, and we are committed to making this a reality.”

Landge emphasizes the multifaceted benefits of this development, including employment generation, skill development, local business opportunities, augmented municipal revenue, and new opportunities for the community. He notes that discussions with Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh have been highly positive, and further plans involve convening a meeting with CREDAI, the construction professional association, Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal officials, and public representatives in the near future.

Notably, Maharashtra has a history of fostering IT growth through well-planned policies. The state’s first Information Technology and Supportive Services Policy was introduced in 1998, and its effective implementation has resulted in consistent growth in exports and investments within the sector. Maharashtra has since solidified its reputation as one of Asia’s prime technology investment destinations. In line with this legacy, the state government has introduced the new Information Technology and Information Technology Support Services Policy-2023, inviting feedback and recommendations.

Mahesh Landge, PCMC Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh, and CREDAI member builder Arvind Jain have engaged in fruitful discussions to ensure the effective implementation of the state’s new IT-2023 policy in Pimpri-Chinchwad.

The state’s ambitions include the development of IT parks, IT software products, data centers, AVGCs, and innovative technology-integrated IT cities to comprehensively expand IT and IT support services. The ultimate goal is to establish Maharashtra as the technological capital of India. In this pursuit, developers of residential and commercial projects will be incentivized with perks like stamp duty waivers, streamlined power benefits, electricity duty exemptions, market development assistance, patent-related support, property tax exemptions, and more. The ‘red carpet’ treatment will be extended to various areas, including residential and non-development zones, green areas, and more. This move is expected to boost the development of projects with a 50% IT and 50% mixed-use focus on approximately 10 acres of land.
