Epidemic Outbreaks in PCMC Trigger Health Concerns Amid Weather Fluctuations”

Pune is currently grappling with a significant increase in epidemic diseases, a consequence of its unpredictable climate characterized by scorching daytime heat and chilly nights. Local hospitals are witnessing a surge in patients seeking treatment for common ailments such as colds, coughs, fevers, and, notably, a rise in dengue cases. Epidemiologists are urging citizens to prioritize their health during this challenging period.

The recent weather patterns have been marked by constant fluctuations, with intense daytime heat and plunging nighttime temperatures. This erratic environment is fostering the spread of epidemic diseases, leading to a growing number of individuals experiencing ailments like colds, coughs, fevers, and body aches in the city.

Dr. Laxman Gofane, Health Officer of the Medical Department, emphasized the importance of dietary choices and healthy living. He advised including more pulses, leafy vegetables, and fruits in one’s diet while avoiding oily and spicy foods. Staying well-hydrated, refraining from consuming soft drinks, and steering clear of open fruits and outside foods are essential practices. Dr. Gofane also emphasized the significance of avoiding alcohol and smoking, and meticulously adhering to prescribed medications. Regular exercise was recommended as a key component of maintaining overall well-being.

It is of paramount importance to pay special attention to the health of small children during the colder season. There has been a noticeable rise in viral diseases among children, with symptoms including colds, chronic cough, fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and dry skin. Pediatricians are advising parents to incorporate nourishing foods like dal-rice, khichdi, bananas, and apples into their children’s diets, and to take specific precautions to safeguard them from dengue. In the event of any signs of viral diseases, parents are strongly encouraged to seek prompt medical attention for their children.
