Pune, August 22nd, 2023: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has taken a significant step towards community enrichment by granting an open space to the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) for public use. The transfer of possession took place on August 18, 2023, in response to the demand from various local organizations and community groups.
A meeting organized by the Bhakti Shakti Shiv Jayanti Utsav Samiti, along with other entities, expressed the need for land to host a range of events and celebrations in the commercial plot at Bhakti Shakti Chowk, Nigdi. The proposed events included Shiv Jayanti, Annabhau Sathe Jayanti, various festivals, and traditional village fairs for the residents of Nigdi.
In response to this collective demand, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) acknowledged the aspirations of the local community and decided to allocate an open space adjacent to Nigdi Village No. 9, Survey No. 83. This space spans an area of one acre (40 R) of Survey No. 83 and was handed over to the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on August 18, 2023.
The PMRDA has specifically directed the PCMC to utilize the allocated space for organizing various events, including Shiv Jayanti, Annabhau Sathe Jayanti, and other festive celebrations, along with village fairs catering to the Nigdi villagers. This allocation of open space is a proactive step to fulfill the community’s demands and ensure the availability of a suitable venue for cultural and communal activities.
By granting this open space to the PCMC, the PMRDA has successfully addressed the requests of various organizations seeking appropriate land for public events. This initiative reflects the commitment of both the PMRDA and the PCMC to enhance the quality of life for the local residents by providing them with spaces that foster community engagement, cultural celebrations, and a sense of belonging.
