Pune – In a significant development, Mayur Bharat Jadhav, President of the Social Welfare Cell of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Pimpri Chinchwad city, has urged the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to prioritize the relocation of 30 to 35 families residing in Jadhav Wasti, Tathawade, before embarking on any road widening projects.
Highlighting the earmarked land for road expansion currently occupied by these families, Jadhav stressed the need for swift action to address the concerns of the residents and ensure their smooth transition to alternative housing.
Sanjay Jadhav, a resident of Jadhav Wasti, echoed the sentiments, emphasizing the prolonged residency of these families and the lack of viable housing options. Despite their longstanding presence predating the establishment of the Gram Panchayat in Tathawade, the PCMC has not taken concrete steps to facilitate their relocation or provide adequate housing solutions.
Mayur Bharat Jadhav underlined that the residents of Jadhav Wasti are integral to Tathawade and should not be overlooked in the PCMC’s development plans. Advocating for citizen welfare over infrastructure projects, he called for immediate action to address the residents’ plight.
Plans are in motion for the NCP President to engage with the PCMC Commissioner, seeking prioritization of citizen relocation. The cause has garnered widespread support from local leaders and politicians.
Efforts to obtain comments from PCMC officials regarding the matter were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
The central message is crystal clear: before embarking on any road widening endeavors in Tathawade, the welfare and needs of its residents must be addressed and accommodated.
