Bhimthadi Jatra 2023: Celebrating Women Empowerment Through Culture and Commerce

Pune, Maharashtra: The much-anticipated Bhimthadi Jatra is set to enchant visitors from December 21 to 24, 2023, at the Agricultural College Ground in Shivajinagar (Sinchannagar), Pune. Organized with the aim of empowering women self-help groups, the event is a collaborative effort supported by the Agricultural Development Trust Baramati, Bhimthadi Foundation, and Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth Rahuri.

Drawing crowds of over 400,000 from Pune, Mumbai, and neighboring cities, Bhimthadi Jatra has become an annual extravaganza. The festival transforms the Agricultural College Ground into a vibrant destination, featuring a bustling flea market boasting over 400 stalls. These stalls showcase a diverse array of handcrafted goods, artisanal products, textiles, and traditional handicrafts.

Beyond the shopping experience, visitors can indulge in the rich rural cuisine and local street food, offering a flavorful journey through different regions of Maharashtra. The event serves as more than just a festival; it stands as a testament to women’s empowerment, providing a platform for them to showcase their skills in handicrafts, textiles, and food preparation, thereby contributing significantly to their communities.

Conceived by Sunanda Pawar, Bhimthadi Jatra is now in its 17th edition, continuing its legacy of promoting women entrepreneurs and self-help groups. With an impressive lineup of 310 stalls, this year’s carnival promises an engaging and rewarding experience for attendees.

The 2023 Bhimthadi Jatra boasts a diverse selection of handcrafted items, jewelry, textiles, and decorative pieces. Additionally, it features an extensive assortment of spices and culinary delights, celebrating the rich and varied flavors of the region.
