Thane’s NaMo Central Park Draws Massive Weekend Crowd with 17,000 Visitors


Thane’s NaMo Central Park, the state’s pioneering Central Park concept and the largest Urban Park sprawling across 20 acres, witnessed an overwhelming response with over 17,000 visitors during its inaugural weekend. The park, inaugurated by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, stands as a testament to development without burdening municipal finances, having been built in lieu of Transferable Development Rights (TDR).

  1. Inauguration by CM Shinde: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde inaugurated the NaMo Central Park, expressing pride in the state-of-the-art development accomplished without utilizing municipal funds.
  2. Enthusiastic Visitor Turnout: The park garnered immense popularity, with over 17,000 visitors exploring its offerings during the inaugural weekend.
  3. State’s First Central Park: Marking a significant milestone, NaMo Central Park is Maharashtra’s first Central Park, embodying a sprawling 20-acre oasis in the urban landscape.
  4. Entry Fee and Timings: Open from 6:00 am to 11:00 am and 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm every day except Mondays, the park levies an entry fee of Rs.20 on weekdays and Rs.30 on weekends and public holidays for adults. Cyclists are charged Rs.20, while senior citizens pay Rs.15. Children below 15 years enjoy free entry.
  5. Diverse Attractions: The park boasts themed gardens, India’s largest Skate Park, a treehouse, fitness zones, children’s play areas, a serene lake, the iconic X bridge, and meditation spaces, promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Visitor Numbers Soar: According to Mitali Sancheti, Deputy Municipal Commissioner overseeing the gardens department, the park experienced a gradual increase in footfall. Approximately 2,500 visitors explored the park on Friday, with numbers swelling to 5,778 on Saturday. The momentum continued on Sunday, with a substantial surge, totaling nearly 9,227 tickets sold by the evening.

Maintenance by Kalpataru Group: The responsibility of maintaining the NaMo Park has been entrusted to the Kalpataru Group, ensuring its ongoing upkeep and appeal for visitors.
