Terminal 2 on Alert: Mumbai Airport Receives Bomb Threat via Email

In a concerning development, the Mumbai International Airport has been targeted with a threat to detonate Terminal 2, according to local authorities. The threat, delivered via email on Thursday, demanded a hefty sum of USD 1 million in Bitcoin within a tight 48-hour window to prevent the alleged explosion.

Mumbai police, in response to the threat, have registered a case against an unknown individual associated with the email address [email protected]. The case has been filed under Sections 505(1)(b) (statements made with intent to cause fear or alarm to the public) and 385 (putting a person in fear of injury to commit extortion) of the Indian Penal Code.

The ominous email, received by the Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) feedback inbox at around 11 a.m. on Thursday, carried the subject line “Blast.” The sender’s message explicitly stated, “This is your final warning to your airport. Unless one million dollars in Bitcoin is transferred to the address, we will bomb Terminal 2 within 48 hours. Another alert will be issued in 24 hours.”

The situation has prompted heightened security measures at Terminal 2 and throughout the airport premises. Passengers and staff are being briefed on safety protocols, and authorities are working diligently to trace the source of the threatening email.
