In a bid to mitigate traffic congestion, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is set to unveil a new 790-meter-long flyover connecting Terminal 2 (T2) of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to South Mumbai. The completion of this project, constructed at a provisional cost of ₹48.43 crore, is expected to open on February 15, offering a smoother route from the airport to the bustling districts of South Mumbai.

Opening Date: The flyover is anticipated to be open for commuters by February 15, providing relief from traffic congestion at the Vile Parle traffic signal on the Western Express Highway (WEH).
Traffic Alleviation: The project aims to help motorists bypass heavy traffic at the perennially busy Vile Parle traffic signal on WEH, ensuring a quicker commute from Terminal 2 to destinations like Bandra and South Mumbai.
Construction Details: The construction of the flyover, initiated in June 2021, employed a unique inverted T-arrangement on steel portal beams to raise girders, providing temporary support and maintaining traffic movement during construction.
Inauguration Speculation: While the exact opening date is yet to be clarified, there is speculation that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may inaugurate several infrastructure projects in Mumbai, including this flyover, later this month.
