Seamless Connectivity: MSRTC Introduces Shivneri Buses on Atal Setu for Pune to Mumbai Commuters

In a significant move to improve connectivity between Pune and Mumbai, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has announced the extension of the Shivneri bus service to the newly constructed Atal Setu on the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL). This initiative comes in the wake of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport’s (NMMT) recent announcement to introduce public transport bus services on the MTHL.

The Shivneri buses, known for their comfort and reliability, will now operate on the Atal Setu bridge, enhancing transportation options for commuters traveling between Pune and Mumbai. The Atal Setu, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last month, is a vital infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity between Navi Mumbai and Mumbai.

As part of an experimental initiative, two Shivneri buses will begin operating on the Atal Setu bridge starting from February 20th. The buses will run on the following routes:

  1. Pune Station to Mantralaya (6:30 AM)
  2. Swargate to Dadar (7:00 AM)

This strategic expansion of public transport services is aligned with efforts to make the newly constructed MTHL more accessible to the public. The move is expected to ease travel for commuters, providing a comfortable and efficient mode of transportation between the two major cities.

In a related event, on February 18th, Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff officially inaugurated the 5-km L&T Sea Bridge Marathon, showcasing the infrastructure’s capabilities and promoting public engagement with the Atal Setu.
