Mumbai’s Trans Harbour Link: A Triumph of Connectivity with 30,000 Daily Vehicles and Impressive Toll Collections

Since its inauguration on January 12, Mumbai’s Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), the city’s latest and longest sea bridge, has witnessed a remarkable surge in traffic, with an average of nearly 30,000 vehicles crossing its 21.8 km stretch daily. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) reports that this influx has resulted in a daily toll revenue of Rs 61.50 lakh.

In the first 10 days of operation, the MTHL has proven to be a vital link, with impressive figures highlighting its popularity. On the inaugural day, 28,176 vehicles utilized the bridge, contributing Rs 54.77 lakh in tolls. The momentum continued to build, with the following day witnessing an even larger surge of 54,977 vehicles, bringing in Rs 1.06 crore.

Despite toll charges, the MTHL has been enthusiastically embraced by the people of Mumbai, connecting Sewri in Mumbai to Chirle in Navi Mumbai. Beyond its functional significance, the bridge stands as a symbol of Mumbai’s ambition and engineering prowess, promising a more connected and efficient future. With its sleek design and cutting-edge technology, the MTHL is poised to become a landmark in the city’s ever-evolving landscape.
