Approximately 500 young women from Jammu and Kashmir faced a distressing ordeal during their stay at a hotel in Mumbai, Maharashtra, raising serious concerns about safety and hygiene.
According to reports, female guests raised alarms about the hotel’s reviews suggesting involvement in a sex racket. Adding to their distress, they discovered explicit photos of women on an employee’s phone.
The professor accompanying the students revealed that 500 students were accommodated at the Royal Palms Hotel in Goregaon, while the remaining students were placed in rooms at a hotel in SakiNaka. However, dinner arrangements were made for all students at the Royal Palms.
Students, after conducting an online search for hotel reviews, became alarmed upon discovering news of a prominent sex trafficking operation allegedly exposed at the Royal Palms.
Furthermore, they expressed dissatisfaction with the hotel conditions, citing dirty rooms, unpleasant odors, and marked bed linens, making their Mumbai experience fall short compared to stays in Delhi and Ahmedabad.
The hotel’s dinner arrangement for only 100 people instead of the expected 800 caused space issues, leading to chaos during dinner service, with lights going off for 20-25 minutes. Students initially believed it was a power outage but later realized the lights were intentionally turned off to discreetly remove certain guests engaged in questionable behavior.
During the dispute between staff and students, one student seized a staff member’s phone, revealing explicit photographs of several women. The IRCTC has expressed shock over the incident and assured a thorough investigation. The chairman of the IRCTC has pledged strict action against both the contractor and involved employees.
