Mumbai Airport to Witness Temporary Runway Closures: Indian Air Force Aerial Display Prompts Operational Halt

In an announcement that may impact flight schedules, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), commonly known as Mumbai Airport, will experience temporary closures of two runways from January 12 to January 14. The closure is scheduled daily from 12 pm to 1 pm for the specified three days.

As revealed by CSMIA’s official Twitter handle, the Indian Air Force has planned an Aerial Display exercise in Mumbai, leading to the temporary non-operational status of runways RWY 09/27 & 14/32 during the mentioned time frame. The exercise is set to take place on January 12th, 13th, and 14th, 2024.

A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued well in advance to facilitate the coordination of flight operations during this period. The CSMIA management urges passengers to cross-verify their scheduled flights with respective airlines before heading to the airport on these specific days. Cooperation from passengers is appreciated, given the temporary disruptions caused by the planned aerial display.

The official Twitter handle further emphasizes the importance of checking with airlines for any adjustments to flight schedules and encourages passengers to stay informed about potential delays or alterations during the specified closure hours.
