In a bid to alleviate traffic congestion at Mumbai Airport’s T2 Junction, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is set to open a new flyover this week. The initiative aims to streamline traffic flow, particularly during peak hours, and address the heavy congestion faced by vehicles heading towards Bandra near the T1 junction.
The newly constructed flyover, running parallel to the existing one, boasts two lanes, is 8 meters wide, and spans a length of 615 meters. Specifically designed to meet the criteria for the airport funnel zone, the flyover will direct traffic from Terminal 2 towards Bandra. The intention is to reduce traffic bottlenecks and minimize waiting times at signals, providing a smoother commute for commuters in the area.
This strategic infrastructure addition aligns with MMRDA’s commitment to enhancing transportation facilities and addressing traffic challenges in key areas of Mumbai.
