MBVV Cyber Cop Receives Prestigious FICCI Award for Exceptional Performance

In a remarkable achievement for the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police force, Senior Police Inspector Sujitkumar Gunjkar, head of the cyber cell, has been honored with the Best-Performing Officer award during the 9th edition of MASCRADE (Movement Against Smuggled and Counterfeit Trade)-2023. The prestigious award was presented by Supreme Court Justice V. Viswanathan in the presence of Union Minister Anurag Thakur at a grand ceremony held in New Delhi.

Recognition for Solving Complex Cyber Crimes

Inspector Gunjkar’s outstanding contributions to the field, particularly his role in recovering ₹36 lakh (39,596 USDT) from the e-wallet of a Chinese national involved in a cryptocurrency fraud case, earned him this distinguished accolade. The cyber cell, under his leadership, successfully cracked this intricate case after a meticulous 13-month investigation. Gunjkar’s exceptional achievements also include resolving other cybercrime cases and launching awareness campaigns to educate citizens about safeguarding themselves against cyber threats.

Nominations from Across the Nation

The FICCI-sponsored Committee Against Smuggling and Counterfeiting Activities Destroying Economy (CASCADE) awards in 2023 saw nominations from Director Generals of Police (DGP) across India. Gunjkar’s nomination and subsequent victory underscore his dedication and relentless efforts in combating cybercrime.

Madhukar Pandey, Chief of MBVV, played a pivotal role in supporting the cybercrime division by collaborating with international agencies. He extended his heartfelt congratulations to Gunjkar and his team for their unwavering commitment and achievements. Gunjkar’s success in recovering cryptocurrency funds also garnered the attention of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), prompting the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) to invite the MBVV cyber cell to share their insights and methodologies with law enforcement agencies nationwide.
