IndiGo’s Vigilance: Chennai to Mumbai Flight Swiftly Addresses Bomb Threat

In a tense situation on February 13, IndiGo flight 6E 5188, flying from Chennai to Mumbai, encountered a bomb threat upon landing in Mumbai, according to an official statement from the airline.

The pilot acted promptly, alerting airport authorities, which triggered the activation of standard protocols and strict adherence to airport security guidelines. In response to the threat, the aircraft was directed to a remote bay, following established safety procedures. The airline emphasized that the plane would only be brought to the terminal area after thorough security checks are completed.

The incident unfolded when the pilots discovered a bomb threat in the lavatories. Acting swiftly, the pilots communicated the potential threat to air traffic control, initiating emergency protocols to ensure the safety of all passengers and personnel on board.

After completing all necessary security checks, the aircraft is scheduled to be repositioned back to the terminal area, as outlined by the airline.

Authorities, including a senior official from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), reassured that prescribed procedures related to bomb threat alerts were initiated promptly. Thankfully, after a thorough search, no explosive device was found on board, ensuring the safety of everyone on the flight.
