India’s First Odour-Free Air-Conditioned Toilet Unveiled at CSMT: A Leap in Passenger Comfort

In a significant move towards improving passenger amenities, Central Railway is set to open India’s first state-of-the-art Odour-Free Air-Conditioned Toilet at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). The groundbreaking facility, inspected by General Manager Ram Karan Yadav, promises a new standard in cleanliness and comfort for railway commuters.

During his visit to CSMT, Yadav undertook a comprehensive inspection of various passenger-centric amenities, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness and modern facilities. Accompanied by Shri Rajnish Goyal, Divisional Railway Manager, Mumbai Division, and other senior officers, the General Manager focused on ensuring the fulfillment of passengers’ needs.

Of particular note is the inspection of the under-construction Odour-Free Air-Conditioned Toilet at CSMT Suburban concourse. This pioneering facility, the first of its kind in Indian Railways, incorporates a two-stage treatment to maintain an odour-free atmosphere within the toilets, complemented by a continuous supply of fresh and cooled air.

The initiative aligns with Central Railway’s commitment to enhancing the overall travel experience for passengers. The facility’s advanced design and features aim to set a benchmark for railway stations across the country, prioritizing hygiene and comfort.

In addition to the toilet facility, General Manager Yadav also assessed the ongoing work for the redevelopment of CSMT Station, a vital hub for rail commuters. The station’s redevelopment aims to modernize infrastructure and improve the overall aesthetic appeal.

Ram Karan Yadav’s hands-on approach to passenger experience improvement became evident last month when, after assuming the role of Central Railway General Manager, he traveled as a regular passenger in a second-class compartment from Thane to Dadar, gaining firsthand insights into commuter experiences.
