Crop Insurance Deadline Extended till August 3: Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Dhananjay Munde

Crop insurance

In a move to provide relief to farmers, the Maharashtra state agriculture minister, Dhananjay Munde, announced an extension of the deadline for filing Prime Minister Crop Insurance applications. Originally scheduled to end on July 31, farmers can now submit their applications under the scheme until August 3. This decision comes in response to the positive reception from farmers who have shown keen interest in availing crop insurance for a mere one rupee. The response has been overwhelming, with more than 1.5 crore farmers already submitting their insurance applications as of the morning of the announcement.

Extension for Online Insurance Applications

To ensure that no farmer faces delays in receiving insurance payments due to technical issues, the agriculture minister has granted a 3-day extension for online insurance applications. This extension aims to provide farmers with sufficient time to complete the application process without any hindrance.

Encouraging Response from Farmers

The crop insurance scheme has received an encouraging response from farmers across Maharashtra. The government’s initiative to offer crop insurance at a nominal cost of one rupee has been well-received, as it provides financial security and support to farmers during unforeseen adversities. The overwhelming number of applications filed thus far reflects the growing trust and appreciation for the scheme among the farming community.

Supporting Farmers’ Welfare

By extending the deadline, the government demonstrates its commitment to the welfare of farmers and acknowledges their crucial role in the nation’s agricultural landscape. Crop insurance plays a vital role in safeguarding farmers’ livelihoods by mitigating risks associated with crop failures and natural calamities.

Appeal to Remaining Farmers

As the extended deadline approaches, Maharashtra’s agriculture minister appeals to the remaining farmers to take advantage of this opportunity and submit their insurance application forms online by August 3. This step is crucial in ensuring comprehensive coverage and protection for farmers across the state.
