Central Railway Traffic Disrupted Again: Pantograph Breakage Halts Commuter Services

Challenges Persist as Central Railway Grapples with Infrastructure Incidents

Central Railway faces another setback as train traffic grinds to a halt due to a pantograph breaking incident between Kalyan and Thakurli railway stations, causing significant inconvenience to commuters in the midst of scorching summer temperatures.

The disruption unfolded when the pantograph of a local train en route from Mumbai to Kalyan snapped, resulting in damage to the overhead wire infrastructure. Consequently, the express route from Mumbai to Kalyan experienced disruptions, impacting train services and contributing to traffic congestion on the Mumbai-bound expressway.

In response to the incident, railway authorities swiftly deployed an engine to the affected local train, towing it to Kalyan station for further inspection and repairs. Additionally, train traffic on the fast track was rerouted to the slow track to mitigate congestion and facilitate smoother operations.

Repair efforts are currently underway by railway personnel, with expectations of resuming normal traffic flow within an hour. Fortunately, traffic towards Mumbai remains unaffected by the disruption.

This incident follows closely on the heels of a similar disruption just two days prior, underscoring the recurring challenges faced by Central Railway in maintaining operational efficiency. The persistence of pantograph breakages underscores the complexities involved in sustaining seamless operations, leading to disruptions in local train schedules and inconveniencing commuters.

As authorities work diligently to restore normalcy, commuters are advised to stay informed about the situation and make necessary adjustments to their travel plans, considering potential delays and diversions in train services.
