Anand Mahindra Takes the Wheel: Hails Mumbai Trans Harbour Link as ‘Fine Piece of Engineering’

Renowned businessman Anand Mahindra, a frequent user of social media, recently took to the wheel on the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (Atal Setu), sharing his exhilarating experience with his followers. Since the bridge’s inauguration in January, Mahindra had expressed his desire to drive across the 21.8-kilometer marvel, and when the opportunity finally arrived, he compared the sensation to “hovercraft gliding on water.”

Using his X handle, Anand Mahindra shared further details about his drive on the Atal Setu. He described the bridge as a “fine piece of engineering” and expressed regret for missing the magnificent view at dusk during his daytime travel to and from Pune. However, he promised to experience the scenic beauty on a future drive.

The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) stands as India’s longest sea bridge, with six lanes stretching over 16.5 kilometers across the water. The bridge, built at a cost of ₹17,840 crore, aims to significantly reduce travel time between locations, shortening the current hour-and-a-half journey to about twenty minutes.

Despite its impressive features, the Atal Setu has certain restrictions in place. It is off-limits to two-wheelers, auto-rickshaws, tractors, vehicles pulled by animals, and slow-moving cars.
